Does anyone have any experience with the dealer's GM Protection Plan ( Value Guard ) ? Trying to find out if it's worth gwtting on a used 2002 S10 4x4

For the most part we all know GM builds reliable cars so ask yourself this..."would the dealer offer me this coverage if he thought he'd have to actually honor it?" Yes, it will cost you some money and the dealer will of course tell you it's better to pay a "little now or a lot later" but he's betting he won't have to honor this coverage and you're betting that he will. What kind of gambler are you? In the world of consumer electronics and appliances most "experts" (that's a relative term) will tell you NOT not to buy any extended warranty coverage. Personally I wouldn't buy it and take my chances. I think I'd be money ahead in the long run. IMHO.

You can actually get a new or used car warranty on your own for way less than the dealer will charge you if you really want one. Just search for it and a few will come up. Be careful though most of them make you pay first and then they reimburse you afterwards and battle you on every little charge. My friend had to go postal just to get his transmission half paid for and he bought his from the same dealer he had the work done at.
