I was wondering if the leather seats on 2007 Tahoe are genuine or not.  Any ideas?

My 2007 Chevy Tahoe has dealer installed leather seats.  However, I think it is leatherette.  How should I ask the dealer about this?

Thanks.

thay call it leather appointed.  that really means the front seats have leather seating surfaces.  the rest is "Other" materials!

The front and second row seats are leather but as the case in most vehicles only the part of the seat that is actually leather is the part that your body touches when seated.
The sides and back of the seat are vinyl.

The 3rd row seat is all vinyl.
The vinyl used is very high quality, extraneous effort is made to match it as closely as possible to the leather material.

Silly me, I thought the 3rd seat was covered with the hide of the extinct nauga.

Dealer installed leather seating areas on the front seats and "pleather" on the back seats and all non-seating areas.  One cannot visibly tell the difference.  However if you lightly press against the leather and pleather you will notice that leather will have a slight "wrinkling effect" while the Pleather will not have the slight wrinkle near where the indentation is made with your finger.  I dare say I prefer the vinyl for ease of maintenance etc.  It is a good compromise between cloth and factory leather plus real easy to get dealer to discount from their "options" label you know the one ....where they also list the Ziebart, VIN etching, interior treatment, and window film.... yeah now you remember.  Oh boy how I enjoy car shopping.   Oops I almost forgot to include RUST PROOFING.....yeah

As others have said, seating surfaces in first and second rows.

Yet they charge $300 or $400 more for the third row when it's ordered with leather. Pricey vinyl?

Corinthian Leather... I think that is what the dealer calls it.... no wait, maybe that was on another car 30 years ago

I remember Ricardo Montalban pitching those rich Corinthian leather seats in the Chrysler Cordova when I was a kid.

When I asked my dealer about the "leatherness" of the seating, (it just didnt have the look or feel of my 04 lt) i was told about the eather where you sit idea.  I ws told to look at this site if I wanted to get REAL leather.  The dealer would order  an install anything I wanted.  http://www.katzkin.com/05/FC/mainFS.html  .

Hmm Why pay them for installation when I can order and have a local shop install and save major dollars?

All LEATHER with a very wide selection of colors, styles and embossing is available.  Check them out.

(I am not affiliated with Katzkin nor do I have any monetary involvement in this recommendation)
