Does anyone know if it's possible to take the gauge cluster from a Monte Carlo (it has the 2 extra gauges - volt and oil) and install it in a 2001 Impala LS?  I would like to do that but I don't know if it's possible and if it will work.  Also, is the mileage stored in the odometer or in the computer (will I lose my mileage and I can I have it reprogrammed)? Thanks.

im not sure on the 1st question...
but as far as cluster swaps.... when you replace the cluster- the dealer or a cluster shop MUST program the mileage onto the new unit. They will also put some kind of mark on the cluster- or decal indicating that a change was done.- they may also place a tag on the door jamb.
if you just change the cluster and not disclose this when you sell it- and the new owner fins out---- big trouble.

yes you can swap it out, just so you dont have a 2000. the oil pressure i dont think will work, but all other gauges including tach will work. You can have BBEngineer at NAIOA.com do the mileage transfer on your cluster. Better than the Stealership
