hello, i'm new here. i've heard a lot on these threads about the great gas mileage the colorado with the I5 gets? Could anyone tell me what gas mileage you get in real life with a 4x4 colorado? Also, how good are these trucks in snow? Thanks.

Guys there is no one out there that has more miles on 2004 colorado than I do. I have 127,000 miles on 4x4 with  I5 motor I get 23.5 high way and 19 city and 20.5 combined. These are the facts people!!!

I'm going to bump this to get some more present updates on mileage.

Can some more of you folks jump in on your mileage with the 3.7L I5?

Thanks,

I had a 2005 Crew 4X4 Z71 with 3.5L I5, 4.10 axle ratio.
I normally would get about 20mpg and 23 on highway trips, 17.5mpg was my very worst tank (not towing).
The truck was bullet proof and I towed a boat that weighed 5,000lbs without any trouble and returned 15+mpg.
It also was also very competent off-road and in the snow although I was not a big fan of the OEM General tires.

Did you put gears in your truck to get the 4.10 ratio?  Was it a big deal to do and about how much?  I have a 2006 Colorado only 20000miiles and have 18's on it with BFG tires.  All i have done is tighten the torsion bars a little and put a longer shackle in the back to raise the rear of the vehile to the front.  I have terrible luck on gas mileage.  I get the best is 16.5 and i have but in a K&N Charger Kit and a Throttle body spacer and Magnaflow duals with high flow cats.  I dont know what else to do to get good gas mileage?

I have the 2005 I5 3.5ltr 4x4 regular cab.  I have the factory tanau (not sure if that's spelled correct) cover but I doubt it does much.

Anyway, I usually drive 90% highway with it and have gotten an average 26mpg over 50,000 miles.  That's using synthetic oil every single time and only using 93 octane gas.  I don't have a lead foot either.  The whole truck is still factory spec.  No special intakes or mufflers.

I agree with the other gentleman here... I'm not a fan of the tires either.  I think I'll put Toyo's on there when they need changing.
