I have a 2002 Tahoe 2WD which has developed a grinding/rubbing noise in the front end (seems like driver side wheel).  It is constant, even at low or high speeds.  When I turn the wheel even slightly to the right, the noise stops.  I originally thought it was just tire noise and that I needed to rotate my tires, but the noise is getting too loud and it also continued even when I pulled the tire off and used the spare.  Nothing is rubbing against the tire or suspension.  Could it be a wheel bearing?

It's the wheel bearing, I'm having the same problem with my 2006 Express cargo van. I'm hearing this is rare, but quite a few people are reporting this problem, so much for sealed wheel bearings. Mine only has 38k miles on it and I don't drive it hard, this is BS.......

buzzfin, was that your problem with your tahoe , the whinny noise that occures at 10 mph and up, my sound like its comming from the front right wheel, I too rotated my tires and with no luck the noise did not stop, when turn the steering wheel to the right it stops. please let me know before what you did to fix this problem.
