Has anyone replaced the front gold emblem on an '07 Tahoe with an after market emblem? I ordered one off of ebay but have not received it yet. Is it as easy as removing the two bolts from under the hood or is the gold bowtie actually glued on as well? I removed the gold emblem off the chrome base emblem on the back of the Tahoe. It was only held on with double sided tape. It looks much better now.

I have the same questions. Anyone have an aftermarket chrome/polished bowtie on the front of their 07 tahoe? Pictures, price, where you got it, and installation information would be great.

I just did this last Friday. It looks great and is easy. I ordered the chrome bowties from autoaccessories4u on ebay. The back one comes off with fishing line and a little elbow grease. Once off, spray WD40 on the remaining tape to get it off. There are 2 small holes where the emblem was. Clean the area and apply the new one. It has double stick tape on it...

The front is easy as well. You'll need a ratchet with a 10mm socket (guessing, but think it was 10mm) to remove the two nuts...again, very easy. The new chrome bowtie has two posts that fit right into the holes on the grill. Tighten and you're done... NOTE: You can't do this with pliers or a crescent wrench...use a driver/socket.

I don't have any pics, but do a search on this site and you'll find some. Again, this is a must-have upgrade. My wife even noticed the difference.

I bought the "chrome" one off Ebay. I had the polished aluminum one on my '01 Tahoe. It looked good for a while but had to keep polishing it. Went with the chrome as it matches the chrome outline on the grill bar.
Very easy to install. Loosened the two nuts on the back of the emblem, removed it. Had to clean where the emblem was removed because it left a little tape residue. A little goo gone. Mounted the new chrome one, tightened and BAM....What a look on black.

Friscokid,

I just ordered a polished billet grille off ebay. How does the polish of the emblem match the polish of a billet grille. I dont want one to look extremely dull in comparison to the other. Thanks.

I notice there are two different style emblems on ebay. One says it has an outline, the other says with no outline.

My rear emblem is the factory emblem with the golf cover popped off so it is the polished one. I would like them to look similar but I am unsure which one I want. Anyone have an opinion? Thanks, landon.

I don't know how the finish would look on an after market billet grill. However, the bowties I put on my Tahoe are very shiny and clean... It goes very well with my stock grill, and even appears to match the TAHOE LTZ letters quite well. I'm very pleased with the difference this $29.00 investment made!

SJenk,

Give me the link to the emblem you bought. I got one that is polished and I want to get the chrome one. Thanks, Landon.

Does your front bowtie just fill the void left when you removed the
OEM or does it overlap the backing like the OEM does, if you follow what I mean. Alot appear too small and only fill in the smaller hole left behind.

It is the exact same size as the gold emblem on the front. SO it is smaller than the big backing bowtie already there. DOes that make sense?

I had a local body shop paint my front emblem when they painted my hitch cover. They only charged me $30.00 for both peices. I think it looks good with the billet grille and bumper inserts. Let me know what you think.

Toon, I like it a lot! Very nice. I think I may paint my stock front gold one white as well, yes my tahoe too is white. It loose good with the larger chrome bowtie background. Now for all the questions!

Where did you get your grill, how much, brand or make, etc?

I like the chrome tubular nerf bars too! Where did you get them? I have been looking for them and havent had luck. I have only found the tubular ones that are a half rectangle. I dont want the ones that go back under the cab, I like the straight bar!

Very very very nice Tahoe Toon.

Can you show a picture of your tahoe showing one full side? I want to see exactly how it looks with those nerf bars.

Thanks, Biglg!

The grille and bumper inserts are from Carraige Works. The grille is a bolt over type (very easy to install), however the bumper inserts require some drilling. I bought both peices from Autoanything.com, the grille was about $150.00, and the bumper inserts were about $80.00. The bars are Westin oval step tubes. I bought them at Simple Simon in Baton Rouge, LA, but any truck accessory store that carries Westin products can order them. I paid $450.00 for the step tubes and installed them myself in about 1.5-2 hrs.

Thanks for the picture. I really like that style bar rather than the factory boards. The price is still a bit expensive. I may wait until there are some more companies that make them and the price gets better. Thanks again and it looks good.

I'm looking for the ones that are the same size, leaving only the original amount exposed chrome edge. Alot are way smaller. If you've removed your original you know what I mean about the smaller indent that some fill.

What brand did you get that is the full size?

When I say same size, I am saying same size as the gold one your removed. At least I thought it was. It doesnt 100% completely cover the bowtie that remains on the vehicle. Is this statement clear??

NOt sure how to explain it, but it is smaller than its surrounding factory bowtie, but it seemed to cover the same amount of space.

Maybe I am confused, what did it look like before? Did the factory gold one cover up the entire chrome part? If so I am confused?

I just went out and checked. My aftermarket billet emblem is smaller than the factory gold one. SOrry guys, dont know what i was thinking.

The search continues... I am waiting for a company to make the bowtie the same size as the one it came with.
The existing one has about ( i didn't measure) 1/2" of chrome surrounding it. Once the gold is removed there is a smaller sized indent underneath. When most billet/chrome bowties are applied, it fills the indent only and leaves about 3/4-1 inch of chrome around it and it looks... not so good. I don't want to offend those who have them.
