I have a 2000 Silverado Ext Cab Z71. Recently the red brake warning light has started to flicker sporadically and a test of the parking brake switch failed to correct the problem. There is no problem with the fluid level and front and rear brakes are relatively new. Any assistance or ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks

Welcome to the forum!!! Is it flickering even when the brake is not activated?

try d\c the sensor in the fluid reservior for a week to see if the issue goes away. Also might be a short in the wiring to the sensor at the e-brake.....have a peek down there to see if there is any damage to the wire

It flickers even while in park, without touching the brake. Flickers the same when brake is pressed. It's not affected by the e-brake as disconnecting the switch did not resolve the flickering. As near as I can tell the flicker is sporadic with no identifiable sequence or code flash. I drained and refilled the reservoir, no difference as well as cleaned all connectors. I have to admit, this one has me stumped.

It may be possible that you have a short or wires crossing that is causing the light to flicker, that would explane the randomness and why nothing you do seems to affect it.
