El Camino v6 Exaust

i have been wondering if i can upgrade my exaust to get to get the classic muscle car sound.  I've been told 2 diffrent things either a v6 wont sound like a muscle car and others are saying it can sound like one.  It's a 81 El Camino  with a 229 v6 just got the muffler replaced to a turbo thrush and i dont hear a thing it's very quite with no sound at all, it still has the cat convertor on and i know it will open up the air flow alot but will it give me the muscle car sound?...or could i get a glass pack with the cat still on or off? i want to stick to a single pipe exuast for now and duals in the future for when i upgrade to a v8 350 if gas prices ever drop back to normal within the next 10 years.....
