I just bought a 2008 silverado 1500, my first NEW truck and i dont want to screw up my warranty. I already purchased the diablo programmer but dont want to install it if it will screw up my warranty. I know you can set it back to stock but im worried that somehow gm or onstar has some way of knowing that i installed a programmer and my warranty will be toast. So whats the deal with these chips/programmers and the warranty? thanks for anyones help in advance-scott

No. Onstar should only be able to pick up on DTCs, tire pressures, and air bag deployment.

well the mechanic at the dealership said that anything computer wise that effected gas mileage would void my warranty, but from reading around it seems that it should NOT affect my warranty at all....head mechanic possibly blowing smoke up my ass?

I would contact Diablo and ask.

Just don't ever tell them that you have reprogrammed the ecm. When you need to bring it in, just flash it back the stock software

I don''t know about the Diablo specifically, but here''s a short story that might help.  In ''05, when I was buying my Equinox, there was a truck on the showroom floor.  It was new, with some custom work done by the dealer that included a tuner.  I asked and the salesman said it didn''t void the warranty.
