I
have a 2000 silverado 4x4 and sometimes it feels like the rear end
slips.  It makes a rubbing sound and then you feel some vibration
in the rear end.  I think it might be the U joints but i thought i
would check first to see of anyone as encountered a similiar
problem.  Thank you for your time.

use real snow tires for winter and put wieght (i use 6 concrete patio
stones, 400lbs)over rear axle. keep tirers at maximum pressure . don't
be afraid to drive with  truck in d2 when in  deep snow or
slush and if it is freezing rain stay home. all these suggestions have
gotten me through some tough winters up hear in ontario canada. good
luck!!!

in 2nd gear the truck can downshift back into first causing it to spin the tires and causing a wreck as for the diferential noise   if u have a autolocker get it checked  mine went out 3 times do to sensor failer  when in deep snow just use the 4wd if it has the auto 4wd button this will work best
