Guys i need help. I have an 02 with a 3.8. I have 142K on the car. It has always been a smooth hard accelerator. Recently, i have had some issues with the check engine light flashing at me when i do a hard accel when passing on the highway. It does not stay on. It only flashes until i get the car back down to a nominal speed & then the light is off. It seems to want to rap up rather than complete the acceleration. I don't have any shifting issues so i have a hard time believing the tranny is dying. I am hard on it though. My car has never been babied. It has always been great up until now with shifting.
Most recent tune up was done less than 6 months ago. We cleaned out the throttle body as well because of start issues - car choked & spit instead of starting. I do need a new resonator & the cat is OEM. I was out of the mileage warranty when i found out about the replacement.
Any ideas? I also apologize if this was covered recently. i looked & looked & could not find this issue anywhere else.
