I own a 2002 cavalier and for some reason when im on the Interstate the car tends to shake alot when im going about 80mph or more. I was just wondering if this was a common problem considering its only a 4 cyln.
thanks

When I had a 1993 Honda Civic it did that too, but that was because the 13 inch tires were 70 profile (175 70R13) and the flexiness of that much sidewall made the car sway at high speeds. Getting lower profile tires, or tires with stiffer sidewalls, helps that. I just got a 2003 Cavalier, and I have yet to take it up to those speeds. I know it uses 195/70R14 wheels, which means it may have the same issue if I go that fast.

Yeah, My cavalier has the same size wheels/tires as your car. I just Purchased some 17 inch rims with 205-40-17 tires and well it drives alot better. but thanks for the reply. I though that i was the only one going through that problem.

Could be a bunch of things... the tires could be worn unevenly... you might be able to tell by looking at it, if it's a severe wear case... otherwise you'd be hard pressed to tell. You could have an alignment issue... you might have a tire out of round or balance... which a tire shop with a dynamic balancer would be able to check. You could have a shot wheel bearing, but that usually makes more growling noises than vibrations...
Has nothing to do with the 4 cylinder engine ;)
