I have a 01 2500hd 6.0 automatic 4x4. The flywheel keeps breaking. Had trans rebuilt last year. Aftermarket flywheel broke in 2 months. Replaced with Chevy flywheel and new converter. This lasted 10 months. Noone at trans shop or dealer has any ideas. Thanks.

define breaking. teeth sheering? crack in wheel?
Was the aftermarket one lightened? Some hi-perf applications will lighten the flywheel for weight. And some will use stock or HD for fuel economy (keep rotational inertia going). Perhapd you simply need a heavy duty one.

sounds like something is not aligning right and putting it into a bind. or the flywheel bolts maybe over tightened.

Flywheel is breaking around where it is bolted to engine. Flywheel is stock for a HD. Bolts are to specified torque.

Its uncommon but on occasion the thrust washer on the crankshaft will be worn and allow the crank to move back and forth. Its kind of like taking a wire and bending it back and forth eventually it will break.

sounds like something is binding up then. maybe bad trans mount or motor mount. the bell housing may not have been aligned right when bolting back up to the trans after ur rebuild. do u have ne trans fluid leaking from the from pump area??
