I had decided to take apart my dash after discovering that the wiring for the stereo was what it wasn't exposed to be. They had used household speaker wire for the remote starter switch (which is no longer being used) as well as a blower motor (which works likes a dream). What are the harzards of this sort of wiring job? I know that I probably need to rewire it but if there isn't any hazard than I won't touch it. Any sort of input will be greatly appreciated on this confusion to me.
Thanks

for small electrical like that speaker wire isnt a big deal, i've used it before in a pinch, granted its not the recommended way but if the connections are solid and its working, i'd just let it go

i dont think it would be a problem as long as there's elicterical tape arond the wires/where the wire connected

Sounds kind of like my chevy luv that I sold. The guy I bought it from hacked the wiring up pretty bad. I installed a small block wich left me with a ton of factory wiring that wasnt used. I weeded out all the unessecery factory wires along with appliance wires and everything else the previous owner had thrown together because one day it decided it wanted to burn. I strongly suggest on using heat shrink tubing and eleminating any extra splices that dont need to be there. Its better to be safe than sorry and make sure you use the proper size wire too small of a wire can create heat and fire. Just my .2
