I had one installed by the dealer...about 12 unches up on the hood and on the sidewiew mirrors. Why wouldn't you get one put on to protect from the rock chips. Here is Denver there is gravel everywhere...

I paid $250 at the dealership but they cut me a deal when I purchased my Tahoe. I know it can get pricey...depends on how much you put on too.

dealer quoted me 799 which i thought was excessive.

That is very excessive...unless the are doing your whole hood or something!

Cost me 600, that included the whole front top to bottom, plus mirrors, also part the front quarter panel.

$600-$800. How much would a repaint of the same areas cost in about 2 years of chips?

not asking to be chastised......as I understand the benefits of this product/application...
simply trying to figure out what to expect to pay....and from the looks of the replies, my quote is a little on the high side.
anyone have pics of their install?

Not being chastized. I was thinking that I might need this as I was reading then got to the pricing. I posted the question that came to mind for me... Is this worth the money or could I just re-paint if needed for that kind of price.
I think it is a valid question and one we should answer before spending that kind of money. Sorry

having the factory repaint the bumper/hood would cost at least $1500...that is what i was quoted on my durango...so Im sure the Tahoe would be more, as it has a larger "front end."
It is definitely something that I want, Im just wondering if its best to take out the middleman (the dealer), as they will likely subcontract this type of work...cutting out their portion of the price would likely make this cost a little easier to swallow.

600-800 sounds crazy! I know they sell these on ebay, I am sure they are cheap. However they may work better than nothing. I have no idea how hard the install is but many people leave feedback stating success! But I would never put one on!
I also think 1500 for a front end re-paint is very excessive! Personally I will wait for a repaint vs. paying 6-800! A repaint of the front end in my location wouldnt be any more than the 6-800.

If you get one thru 3M the price might be low b/c that does not include the install. The process seems to be easy just time consuming. They are pre cut to fit your vehicle, basically just like installing window tint. My dealership installed one for me and they had to do it twice since the first one had some air bubbles. It will be hard to just take it off and redo it b/c of the adhesive. Good luck.

I've found a few 3M certified clear bra installers in my area (No. Va) that I'm going to get quotes from. I'll post the costs when I get them back.
BTW, has anyone used the ROADGARD product? Looks like a 3M competitor with similar pricing. I was wondering which one was better or if there is even a difference.

I was quoted 400 from the local tint shop but that was just for the front

I live in southern California and my wife bought me a 2007 Chevy Tahoe for Christmas. She had the dealership put on a Roadgard. It looks great can barley see it on the car. This is the first time i have heard anything about this so i did some research and found that 3m and everyone else out there doin this offers a 3-5 year warranty and Roadgard gives a lifetime warranty on the product and installation. Here is there website if anyone wants it

I was quoted $799 + tax for install of the full 3M kit.
Looking at the Roadgard product, that's the price of just the kit, without install...
Still sounds quite high considering how cheap the material is...

actually the ROADGARD was only $695 fully installed,,, I know the dealers had to have made something on it as well....so far so good with it,,,,, I may think about getting my Vette done if this stuff works....
