HELP! My car was and has been running fine, I went out to start the car to go to the store and lights come on but the car won't crank. Had a neighbor try to jump the car off and to no avail it sill won't crank. The alternator was factory replaced less than 8 months ago, so I do know it's not the alternator. I had a radio installed and interior lights, could this be any cause related to it not cranking? Maybe the computer or something. HELP!!!!!

HI...I just went through the same thing with my 93' Cavalier, It was my ignition switch..
My car would crank though, but wouldn't start key was stuck in the ignition, on the the on position killed my battery.Sometimes new parts are bad also, maybe the part you bought was faulty, or maybe it's ur starter.
Good Luck!

Update on my 99 Monte Carlo that won't crank. Called the dealership about it and all issues are pointing towards the Anti-Theft system being locked up and has caused the car to "think" it's being stolen thus the car won't crank. Silliest thing I've ever heard, and believe this mess.....they say "this is common with Chevy". Common my rear LOL.....All the lights work, battery is good, radio works, but the anti-theft has been deemed the culprit here. Car is at the dealership now, waiting on the call from them to tell me whether it's the Key that's damaged that caused the system to lock up or if the anti-theft system mess is shot totally. Thank goodness this mess is covered under and extended warranty. So, if anyone experiences their Lights, Battery, radio, heat, etc working and the car won't start {just clicks} and you have the factory anti-theft on your Monte Carlo......You may very well have the same issue I do...Anti-theft system failure. I will be back with the final update on the situation, that way maybe I can help shed a little light on some other Member's of this Forum's issue.
Thanks and good luck to EVERYONE!

Thank you for your help. We did think it was the starter or ignition at first. Seems to be the Anti-Theft system is locked up. I have the car at the dealership now for repairs. I will be sure to post an update to let everyone know what they finally determined is defective, the key or the anti-theft itself.
Thanks!
