I have a 1995 S 10 and I need to replace the timing belt. It has a tentioner and I asume it needs to be loosened. My question is if this is spring loaded or do I just loosen the 15mm bolt and then pry it back to tighten. It has alignment marks on the top. I have the new belt and would like to do this my self. Thanks

Its a fairly involved process on this engine, but the chain guides should loosen with the wrench. I'm not sure about the older vortec, but the 97+ has a combination of spring and nut, so the nut has to be loosened to move the spring out enough to loosen the chain.

This model has a serpentine belt not a chaine. The tensioner lays on the belt and the bole is on the piece above. It looks like the bolt has to be loosened to move the tensioner.
Thanks Harold
