i was wondering if running above 55 mph in 4wd can damage your car? i've heard different things about this topic so i was wondering if anyone had any takes on this.....thanks

No, but if you don't have viscous coupling unit, drive to 55 mph turn to dangerous speed when you need to take a curve.
In special if is raining.

bryan907, not exactly sure what andregg1 is trying to say (i got that he said no it won't). i've got a '94 T15 Jimmy 5 spd. 4 dr. that i can be running down the highway @ 140 KPH and put it into 4HI without any problems (whether it be for snow or rain). not sure if it makes a difference or not, but the transfer case in my Jimmy is manual, not electronic. hope this answers your question.

Driving in 4wd is bad at any speed if you are not running on a surface that allows loss of traction. That is the only time you would need 4wd. If you drive with it engaged you will tear up gears.
