I'm itching to get some more umph out of my 07 Tahoe.  I went by a performance shop where they informed me that they could reprogram it for $180 and that their machine would do more than buying the Diablosport which they also sell for $450....   What's the best route????

I would go with the programmer.......You don't always want to be driving in "Haul Ass" mode, I imagine that sometimes you would want to change the settings to a more fuel efficient mode.  Plus, what happens if your computer gets reset when you take in, are you going to have to pay another $180 to get it reprogrammed again.

Thanks...   What's the general consensus on what's better...  Diablosport, edge or superchip???

I have the Edge, no complaints so far, but I can't compare it to the others as I haven't used them.  The new superchips tuner appears to be fairly similar to the Edge programmer.

I have the Superchips and seems to work well, also has a data acquisition mode.

Do a search on Edge as there was a lot of interest in it and it can be mounted in an A pillar module.

I have the diablo sport great programmer.  Using the performance tune and set the speed limiter to off.  I have noticed a good increase in HP and torque.  Went from stock to tune back to stock then tune again to see the difference.  I do have 4.10 gears which helps off the line and when I am driving.  I do notice uphill, off the line, and on the go.  Good luck with your decision let us know what you chose.

How does any of these products affect gas mileage?

I have actually seen an increase in mileage, about 2 mpg maybe more if I would let off the pedal a bit.  I like the extra hp and torque too much so I tend to be heavy on the foot.

Good suggestion txguy about the computer getting reset and to go with a programmer.  I have a hypertech and it is easy to use and has given me a little more performance.  Nice thing is you can change to firmer shifts, change shift points etc... which will help you if your looking for more performance.  Also if you ever change wheel and tire size you can go back in and enter that info.

If you reprogram the 07 which has the 4 cyclinder / 8 cylinder operating mode, does it really increase the MPG? Would it be better to program it to run more in 4 cyclinder mode once the speed has been achieved and idle in 4 cyclinder mode?

Welcome to the Chevrolet Forum.

MPG: depends on who you ask, some say yes, some no.

4/8 AFM: it won't idle as a four, just pull four plug wires and see.
