Hello all,
I'm new to the forum. Just picked up a new 07 LT1 that was equipped with the optional luggage rack cross bars. I'd like to remove the cross bars because I'll never load luggage on the roof and secondly, they result in the car height being too high for my garage door opening. How do I remove the cross bars?
Thanks,
DaveK

You have to remove the end cap at the back (or you can remove the front one). Each is held secure by 2 torx screws (one is inside the rail). When you unscrew the caps, there is a little clip inside the track you have to pull up and lift the rack assembly a little to slide the cap off. Then pull up on the cross bar lock down handles to release and slide right out. I just installed cross bars on mine yesterday.

The final step is shipping the cross bars to my house for installation on my Tahoe. Let me know when that can be accomplished.

Dave,
If Tahoe07 does not work out a deal for your cross bars, let me know. I would be interested in buying them.

Thanks guys -- but I'm gonna keep the cross racks for future posterity.

I've got a pair of crossbars (and rails too!) that I'd be happy to unload. Dunno what they're worth. PM me if you're interested...

I just removed my cross bars tonight. Let me know if anyone is interested and make me an offer. Thanks, Landon.
