Has anyone had any problems out of the '07 Tahoe? I bought mine on Friday and been in the shop since Tuesday...I am almost to the point where I am going to call GM Corporate Office and complain. They are clueless how to fix it..exact words from Service tech...is they are stumped!

I love the looks, loved the way it drove...but this is absolutely rediculous!!! To spend $50K for a vehicle and not be able to drive it.

What problems are you having? I'm interested to see what problems could happen to my tahoe too.

I monitor all the Tahoe boards and I have yet to see anyone having troubles. What sort of problems are you having?

If you just bought it, you're certainly within your rights to have the dealer give you a new ride. I would give them a deadline and if it's not fixed pick out a new one.

Chevy makes a lot of Tahoes- some are bound to have problems. I know your trouble, I had an '04 Nissan Armada that was in the shop almost 60 days out of the first 90. Are there any other dealers near you that might have better techs?

You mentioned in your reply to this message that you monitor all of the Tahoe message boards.
Could you provide some links or URLs for those boards?
BTW, I just purchased a 2007 Tahoe LT.

Thanks

Edmunds has an online forum. I believe it's called Town Hall. There's currently one for '07 Tahoes.

For what it's worth - had a nice visit with an 07 owner at a motel in the middle of Utah three or four days ago. He LOVED his new 07 Tahoe and has been on the road 6 weeks and 6000 miles. Asked him if he had any trouble. Said he was going into St. Louis and suddenly the entire car started shaking real bad then everything went off the air. Engine, radio - everything. Said "Thank God for Onstar!" Anyway, took it to a dealer who was stumped. Chev was stumped. After 3 days, the dealer swapped out several sensors and the Electronic Control Module from an 07 he had in stock. Thing has run perfect since.

Maybe he went to Edmund's Townhall forum. People actually reply over there plus the threads are categorized.

What sort of problems. The only problem that I have had with mine is the molding on the rear passenger and driver sides doors. Have had the passenger side replaced once and the driver side is scheduled for its second replacement. And a problem with the GPS which is planned to be looked at at same time the drivers side rear door molding is replaced.

Is this the exterior vertical black trim molding that is on the outside that surrounds the glass opening towards the rear of the rear door?
I saw a couple trucks on the dealers lot that had this piece pulling away and loose looking

What was the exact issue you are having with the GPS?
Thanks

It is the vertical/horizontal moulding on back door windows. The part that seems to come loose is the vertical part about mid ways up the window. Had the Tahoe in this AM to have oil changed. Spoke with service writer and according to his parts guy, the new piece is not in and he thinks they are redesigning the molding due to a possible design flaw.

As far as the GPS, the area in between the Mark and POI is where it displays the street name you are currently on. Without a programed destination, I can be riding down the road in the AM and it will show what street I am on. Tehn all of a sudden, it goes away. If you have a destination programmed in it, it puts a small window on the right side and the street name on the bottom. The voice prompt will be working telling you when and where to turn. Then the area showing what street you are on, the window on the right goes away. The voice prompts stop. But the highlighted route remains on the screen. Just no idea exactly where to turn or voice prompt to tell you. Was told it could possibly be a bad gps cd or cd reader in the unit. While in today, they put a new cd in and it still has the problems as described above.

Mine is pulling away too, but I pushed it back on and that seems to have done the trick for now.

Had ours for a month. No issues except for slightly squealing brakes when applying light pressure to them. Nothing out of the ordinary and I'm sure it'll go away as the breaks "settle" to the pads the more we drive it. Only have barely over 1000 miles on it so far.

Great truck!

I purchased an 07 Tahoe and was one of the first ones in Phoenix to buy it. It's black interior/exterior and a way nice ride....BUT I would advise anyone thinking about purchasing one to wait for a year or two. I have had mine in the shop five times and have only had it three months. The first thing that went wrong was everytime I would come to a stoplight after going over 30 mph...the light would turn green and I would give it gas. It clunked like something slipped. I took it in and they tightened some bolt in the rear of the car. Appearantly there are two of them because it started doing it again so they had to tighten the other one. Then my automatic door lock went bad. Some switch that indicates that the door is open on the bezel went bad so they had to replace it because my "door open" dinger was always on. Then I took it in for a brake switch that was way to sensitive which autmaticlly turned my cruise control off...well I could never turn it on because it was being told by the swtich that I was applying the brakes...they didn't evenhave a part in so they took one off another Tahoe. I told them that the car was making a terrible grinding noise when I would start it up after sitting all day in the AZ heat. I didn't even have time to get out of the car and open the hood to see if I could hear where the noise was coming from because it goes away that fast and then it's gone. They couldn't find the problem because they didn't let it sit all day. I didn't know this either but you can't have the car in AUTO 4x4 because of the anti-slip whatever, was causing the car to hesitate like the timing was waaayyyy off. They explained that the rear wheels travel faster than the front wheels during acceleration so the car thinks that it is slipping and causes some unexplainable hesitation. My auto A/C unit is wacked out too. It's supposed to be like a house A/C when it reaches the desired temperature it shuts off...well mine will kick into turbo for three seconds then shut off...then turbo and shut off kind of like a windstorm. It's not constant. I confronted the GM of that dealership and he was very concerned. After speaking with the techs in the shop and looking at the problems...he told me that I had a great car and he wasn't sure what I was talking about. I JUST HAD IT IN YOUR SHOP FOR A TOTAL OF THREE WEEKS!!! WHAT DO YOU MEAN A GREAT CAR! DON'T BUY ONE!!! STAY AWAY FOR A COUPLE OF YEARS. They told me they would not replace it. AZ lemon laws state that the same issue must occur four times or it has to be in the shop for a total of one month within the first two years....I know that I didn't have the same issue four times....but isn't mine still a lemon?

I forgot to mention that I had to replace the stearing gear box on my 07 Taho because my stearing fluid was leaking out of a hose...

Sounds like you got the ultimate lemon. My advice would be to thoroughly document everything that's happened, what you've done, and what the dealership has done (include names of everyone you've dealt with). Include dates and times of occurences and how much time you've been without the vehicle. This will be invaluable info if you have to go the lemon law route.

Good luck!

I have had mine done twice by my dealer and of cource I am the only one having this problem. His fix was 3-M tape.

I bought a 2007 LTZ the end of May. Every option but 4WD. Took a trip from Southern California to Vegas about the first of July. About 2000 miles on the clock. Got about 60 miles out of Vegas (temp about 115 degrees) and the cruise control kicked off, the tach zeroed with the engine running fine, the "service stabilitrak", "service traction control", and "service engine" lights illuminated. In addition to this, the A/C completely quit blowing any of it's usual semi-cold air. (The A/C has never quite put out icy cold air like it should, though. It has always had to be set all the way down to 60 degrees to do even a "fair" job of cooling). We pulled over, visually checked the engine, and it looked OK. Called OnStar to report it, they weren't of much help. The temp gauge, oil pressure, and battery/volt gauges were all OK. Turned the engine off for a few minutes. Started it up again and all was fine. Took it to the Vegas dealer and they reprogrammed the drive train computer and did a re-learn on the crank sensor. Picked it up and all seemed cool (a pun, as the performance of the A/C still sucked as before). We left Vegas and got to Victorville (300 mi. and 111 degrees) and it did the exact same thing again. Called OnStar again so they could archive the prob. Turned engine off for a few, restarted and were good to go again. Really screwed up our plans to drive up the coast, though. Headed back home to central Cal earlier than expected as we didn't trust the thing at all now. About 300 miles later, almost home (106 degrees) did the same bad act again. Took it to a local dealer near our home. Eight days later...they said they R/Rd the trans PROM, R/Rd and re-learned the crank sensor, Reprogrammed the Drive Train PROM, and did one of two reprogramming fixes from a TSB about the A/C. (G.M. doesn't have the second fix figured out yet, so I don't even know what that is.) FYI, I also had the left rear door lower glass reveal mlg that flops in the breeze, and they replaced that. The vehicle seems to be OK (exept the anemic air conditioning), but I haven't taken a long trip in the heat again yet. I really, really, really LOVE this vehicle. It's like a wife gone bad...can I trust it again? 50Gs is a lot of bux for a vehicle that can't be counted on. I hope I'm eventually proven wrong.

After reading the engine problems twice in this particular post and experiencing it myself, I will give my input. My wife, daughter and I piled into our newly owned '07 (less than 2 week old) and headed from Dallas up to Seattle. (Yes we are crazy) After 8 hours on the road, we also experienced the "thump" feeling with the "Service Stabilitrak and Service Traction Control" lights and messages on, RPM's dropped to zero, and the air off. We continued on while calling OnStar which helped locate a dealer thankfully only 10 mile up the road in Hays, Kansas. Now, we bought the truck as a demo with just under 6k miles and you would think that problems would be worked out but after reading that our problem has been experienced with others, I am beginning to think this is a problem only duplicate-able during long periods of highway driving and high heat. After spending 4 1/2 hours at the dealer waiting, they couldn't tell us what the problem was or duplicate the problem. So, on our way we went and sure enough, it happened again. Fortunately, we found out that if we pulled over, turned the truck off, pulled out the key, opened the door, closed the door, locked the truck, waited for a minute, unlock the truck, and start it up again, all the systems and lights reset themselves and we were on our way. This happened to us twice each day we were on the road doing highway driving longer than 3 hours. At first we thought it had something to do with the cruise control so we stopped using the cruise. After trying to get a dealer in Reno to take a look at it, (which they didn't have time to fit it in) we drove home, unloaded everything out, took it right up to the dealer and dropped it off. After 2 days of working on it, they replaced some sensors and wiring. I don't have the specifics here at work but if anyone would like them, just contact me. We are taking another trip in October down to El Paso - 10 hour drive - and I am praying the same thing doesn't happen.
