I'm looking at buying a used 2007 Malibu. It is missing the remote to unlock the doors. Is this a dealer item, or can I get an aftermarket? Any ideas of pricing? Also, where are the options codes listed on the car?

Look inside the glove box, there should be a list of the options that are on the car.

Another thing to consider is that this is probably a rental car. They can delete several things tht would normally be standard equip. such as OnStar and keyless entry. The best thing to do would be to go to a trusted dealer and ask for a VIS. This will tell you exactly what equip. the car has. You can even ask for a BARS report and this will tell you what problems the car has had since it was put into service. I work at a Chevy-Pont.- Buick dealership so I run into these things all of the time.
