If its not done right the paint will peal off.  I saw an Avalanche that had it done but it looked like S*!t.

1 Remove the part.

2 Wash with HOT water and degreaser. (dish detergent will do in a pinch)

3 Then sand so the surface is as smooth as you want.  If you sand first you may embed the releasing agent or other oils on the part.  This plastic seems to have a plastic that tends to shred.  You may choose to not sand.  I don't mind the texture on this part due to it's location.

4 Prime with a adhesive promoter.  2 coats, follow instructions on can.  Bullydog is a good choice

5 Prime with sandable filler primer 2 to 3 coats...don't sand through to first primer  Sand as you go to smooth to your desired smoothness

6 Base coat with flex agent 3 coats

7 clear coat 2 or 3 coats

While it will look good, you'll have to be really careful parking where they have those curbstones or regular curbs.  Good luck.

I can't keep from hitting stuff long enough to think about painting mine.  I scrape it once a week.  Not because I forget it's there or pull up too far.  I keep scraping as I back into or pull onto inclines.

I like the black better. It adds the rugged look of the truck.
I looked at the part when I installed my tow hooks. It comes off easy. If you decide to sand the part, I recommand flexible 3M sand sponge. It is handy, controlable, and washable.
If you decide to paint this part, make sure you do not hit curbs etc. I had it done on my other cars. Everytime I wanted to sit in my car I would notice the scratches and regret it.
Off this topic, this part is needed for aerodynamics of the Tahoe. Did you know that 2007 Chevy Tahoe has a better drag coefficient than Porsche Cayenne?*

Has anyone heard or read or know if there is a drag coefficient for an '07 Tahoe with a Z71 front end ----vs.----- the LT(1,2,3,Z) front end?
