Hey guys!  Im new here, and have found out a ton of useful information.  Thanks for that.  One thing that I have been wondering about is if anyone out there is having problems with the new body style 2007 trucks.  I got one about a month ago and have loved it, and have been pretty well problem free.  My truck is a Ext cab 4x4, 4.8L  with the off road suspention  A couple issues I have had,

- The seats seem to collect alot of lint and appear dirty very quickly

- The speakers are not very good quality at all.  Actually they are pretty terrible.

- Rattles in the driver side door

- Not the best breaks,  maybe I am just not used to them yet.

Any comments on these problems, or any of your own would be appreciated

Thanks

I haven't had any problems that you mentioned. I have the crew cab, short box. The sound system is good. Not the Bose, but it cranks. The brakes seem fine. I have the 4 wheel disc brakes. The seats definetly attract lint ,very badly and dirt. That is my only beef. I use a lint brush to keep them clean(black on black). Since i installed some Westin step side bars, i have some noise whenever i hit a bump. But it is not that bad. I think i need to re-torque them. But it is a real good truck and very fast.

TONS of problems as do all trucks that win truck of the year....

seriously, of all these the speakers I will give you, but remember you got the 4.8, basic load for a truck so basic stereo, and seats, option up for the captains and boss, with teh 5.3 and you have no complaints..

the breaks as tested think they finished 1st at 187 feet so they are the best out there only gets worse from there, even beat toyota as they brag of bigger and better brakes, well they need them to stop the monster truck...

on a side note, why not the 5.3, this would have gave you the otions you are complaining about, and get better gas milage, seethe 4.8 does not come with DOD the 5.3 does and is rated 2mpg better on the highway and same in town, and you can actually tow with it.

What does DOD stand for?

Just about 2000 miles on it and so far no problems, except I notice it needs to get pretty dark before the dash lights come on in the LTZ.  Very hard to read the instruments unless you turn on the lights.
I had a noise with the Westin Steps when I first got the truck.  Found they used a small washer on the rear mount, which has a slot instead of a hole, and the small washer pulled into the slot and loosened up.  Put a larger washer on and had no more noise.  Brakes are better then the 2003.  The Bose System is better the the one in my Corvette.  No problem with lint because it has leather seats.
So I guess I like it a lot.

displacement on demand or active fuel management...if it is new style the 5.3 has this...it shuts donw 4 cyl when you dont need the power...ie...cruising on the highway, it gets better fuel milage then the 4.8

I didnt get the 5.3 casue it was a little out of my price range.  It was the one I wanted originally.   One of my friends got pretty well the same truck a few weeks before, but with the 5.3, and his gas milage has been worse than mine, in town that is.  We both drive primarily in the city, so the DOD barely gets used.   I am also not planning on towing anyting huge for the next while,  so it was my best option.  Maybe the options are diffrent up here in Canada,  but you have to move up to the LTZ to get the better speakers,   no matter what engine you get.  I could be wrong, so dont quote me on it.   Thanks very much for your imput and advice though, keep it coming.

What is the "Boss"?????

I don't care what the EPA rated the fuel economy at the 4.8L bests the 5.3L in fuel efficiency by 1-2 MPG's in real world usage and saves the buyer $600, at 295 HP it is a great mill for many consumers.

HEHE Bose.....my bad....in town ya the 4.8 does do a bit better, but it dont oi the highway, at least thats the feedback I get from customers....expecially in BC, with all the mountains and hills/Vallies, the 5.3 with 3.73 or 4.10 work best here.

WHO BUYS A TRUCK WITH A 4.8 L ??? I just got my 2500HD with a 6.0  I'm going to put a 8.5 ft plow on it. I've only drove it about 50 miles, but so far I'm not really impressed.

my old mans just picked up a 07 silverado 5.3 LT1 Z71, and its pretty sweet.  he get about 15-16 city and around 18-19 highway.  the actice fuel management is pretty useless, only really turns on when going downhill or with a good tail wind.  this weekend we went camping and when pulling our decent sized popup camper i got 15mpg while crusing doing 80mph on the freeway.  i have noticed that you mileage goes up significantly if you use cruise control as much as possible.  i made a 50 mile trip (one way) and on the way there i averaged 16.5mpg using my foot as the throttle.  on the way back i used cruise control as much as possible and got 18mpg.  just some info for you 07 guys out there.

In the hills you are MUCH better off NOT using cruise control. As far as your 50 mile trip, it is much to short to  be a good indicator of fuel mileage and doesnt take into account any wind or elevation difference between the two points, since they weren't round trips. My mileage has varied as much as 3 mpg with a 5 to 15 mph wind. I consistently make better mileage going one way on 300 mile trip than the other because of the elevation difference and possibly the predominant winds coming from the NW.

I have had my 07 LTZ ,[4000 mi],in the shop twice for water leakage. One of the times there was trash in the sunroof pan drains, and the other the leak was from the rear cab brake light. Also while it was in the drivers side mirror was replaced as it had a bad shake/shimmy while at highway speeds. Other than that I am pleased.

Hey everyone newby here, after about a year of reserching 1/2 ton pick ups that would have the balls to pull my 18ft Toyhauler and the Mpg to be my veryday ride, I chose a extended cab short bed, with the alluminum 5.3 and the 3.73 rear end, all and all I am pleased the I got 17.3 mpg first tank in town, then 16.4 second tank so all is good and she has smooth power when ya mat it! I love having 315 hp after driveing a 98' s-10 with the 4.3 for 8yrs, but I just cant leave the motor stock, i feel the need for speed! I'm looking into insatlling a cat back exhaust (duals for catalitic converters back) and a K&N cold air intake, I have heard that is a cheap way to get a extra 15 to 20 hps and better Mpg too? My question is, has anyone done this or any other preformance upgrades on the new 5.3 aluminum v-8 and what were the results? thanks Guys

You must have an 07 Classic. The NBS 07+ Silverados do not have the aluminum block 5.3L available in the Extended Cabs. 05-07 C that engine was in the EC, 07+ it is is the Crew Cab models only.

One big problem!  I bought a NBS 5.3L, 4x4, ext cab, LT2.  The passenger side a/c would work and then after about 1 hour, it would blow heat (high).  I had it fixed five times and it acted the same way every time.  I gave it back to the dealer and got a new truck, exactley the same.  No more problems, except the radio (non-bose) sucks!

I have had my NBS 2008 Fourdoor 5.3L flexfuel truck since April 1, and have about 14000 miles on it.

I run E85 most of the time and get 13.5 mpg with a city/hwy mix. On reg gas I get about 16 mpg with the same driving.

My 2 complaints are:

The seat material is a dirt magnet. Not only does it get filthy quickly, it won't let go of the dirt and is horribly stained.

The transmission is a dog. It feels like it catches up to the truck with going down hills and back up. A coworker has the same truck and also shares the same complaint.

I wish I could have gotten a longer bed, but otherwise, I really like this truck. It tows very well for it's size and the mileage is nothing to complain about.

I am having a problem with the tire pressure sensors. After a flat tire repair went badly and a new sensor was installed, the check light remains on. Chevy told me not to worry about it until I bring it in next time.

I forgot to add:

The paint is crap. I have more paint chips on this truck than my wife's 6 year old minivan. Yes, I drive on gravel, but my other trucks do not have near the paint chips. I have 2 NBS trucks and they are both the same way, lots of chips missing.

I've had my 07 NBS crew cab for about a month and love it.  I was torn between the ext cab and the crew.  I'm glad I got the crew - tons of room when you fold up the seats.  I too complain about the dirt magnet seats.  Also the rear cup holder is stuck open, someone mentioned about the delay in the dash lights coming on - I agree.  I also like to drive with the dash lights barely on at night and on the highway.  They don't dim enough for me.  I bought it to tow a 21 ft travel trailer, but have not done that yet. I hope it's an improvement over my 04 6 cyl trailblazer. Gas mileage seems to vary between 15 and18 depending on terrain.

Probably not alot of room here for a 2007 NBS Silverado 2500HD Duramax/Allison - LTZ.

It's awesome in performance and towing from bobcats to a large horse trailer with 4 horses.

Options were numerous and still at night school on learning how to use them all.

I love my 3/4 Duramax!
