i have a 03 impala and I've always wanted to put on a remote start, but I've had some people tell me it's a bad and idea and some others tell me its fine. what should I do??

Remote starters are awesome. I've used mine over 2,000 times without any problems.
Probably went through 5 AAA batteries on the fob is all.

what kind do you have? people tell me that they F@%k up your started motor, so your telling me that's not true?

that is not true at all. A quality remote starter, installed and programmed right, will not damage your vehicle in the least. stay away from the walmart starters and you should be good.

I was looking at the Valet 561RValet 561R by Viper and have circuit city put it on.

Viper is one of the best brands out there....lifetime warranty on the module too which is a bonus. I don't know of the calibre of installers that work at CC. But your car isn't overly difficult to do, so I wouldn't worry too much.

The biggest problem was people not paying attention and isolating the parking lights from the BCM so the service engine light won't come on! or if they hook up to the light switch they need to change polarity to negative and also isolate it so it won't burn it up..It's on all the tech bulletin that most installer everywhere should see..Directed is a good brand to go with...
