So, I started my car after  work today and the engine light has been on since. car is running fine, not over heating or having any type of engine problems. Oil change is not due for well over 1000k. Do I really need to spend 100's of dollars at the shop or is there cause for concern?...any help would be appreciated...thanks

If the check engine light is on, I would suggest going to either Autozone or Advanced Auto Parts and have them run a free diagnostic on the vehicle. It could be an oxygen sensor that is bad or something along those lines. Let me know if this helps!

agree with the above post have it checked.. it could be that its time to replace your chevrolet oxygen sensor with a new one. also check your  Air Flow Sensor.. just give us an update regarding this matter.

It's up to you ... there's a problem existing and you can simply ignore the light , keep driving and hope it fixes itself ....

or

check the gas cap to see if it's there and on properly ...

or

go to the mentioned places to have them pull the codes for free.... then decide.
