My truck has 204K miles w/automatic transmission. It runs OK despite the high mileage, but there have been some noises coming from it lately that are concerning. Lately when I reverse out of my driveway and shift from R (reverse) to D (drive) and slightly hit the gas in D I can hear a single "clang"- almost like the sound of a baseball hit by an aluminum bat. This is the only time I hear that noise, and it seems to be coming from underneath the vehicle.
Also when I accelerate up a slight hill sometimes I can hear a slight constant grinding noise coming from underneath, towards the rear. I hope it's not my transmission! I just had it serviced a month ago (fluid changed). The only service I haven't received lately that I may need is the rear diff and last I had that done was a few years ago. Any ideas on what the noises might be?
Thanks,
Kevin

Service the rear differential and see where that gets you.

Just had the rear diff done and had 2 rear U-joints replaced today. Sounds good so far!
Thanks
