i was just wondering what the motor life of a 1991 305 motor is. it has about 250,000 miles on it now. they are mostly all highway miles. how long do you think i would be able to go with out an overhaul??..........thanks!

Depends solely on how you operate and take care of the vehicle and a little bit of luck, I’ve seen many GM engines go 1M miles.

Ditto. I sold an 85 El camino with the 305 at around 500,000 and it is still going 3 + years later. God knows what it has now.

If you take care of it and maintain it, it will last most likely to 500,000 before you get any major problems. One thing you might want to look into is just taking off the oil pan and changing the rod and main bearing and polishing the crank it doesnt cost much and will give you a lot more mileage.
