UPDATE ON VIBRATING MIRROR.......Well........I took my Tahoe in for it's 3rd replacment mirror and it still vibrates!!!!!!!! How frustrating. I have to give kudos to our service tech. He has gone out of his way to try to resolve the issue and to be accomodating to us (Nick @ Huber Chevrolet in Omaha). He has pulled no BS and has stated that GM is aware of the issue and will inform me of any future repairs. Still unsure what is causing this. If anyone else is experiencing the same thing or knows of any other causes.......please let me know. Thanks again for everyone's help!!!!

Hello,
I just received mine back from the dealership from having this issue looked at and the tech took the mirror apart and reassembled with proper torque specs and the mirror still vibrated.
The tech is ordering a new mirror actuator, we'll see if this solves the problem when the part comes in.

Also, you may want to check your mirros for whistling. My mirrors whistled at 40-50mph and the tech noticed as well in both mirrors, so they inserted foam tape per service bulletin and whistle went away.
Just a heads up though if yours whistles.

Thanks, Jay

I have bad news for you folks... I have an '05 Tahoe, and today was the THIRD trip to the dealer. I have heard it is my bug deflector, the big tires that came on the truck (Goodyear Wrangler AT/S), etc. etc. etc. They have replaced the entire mirror unit 2 times already & balanced and rotated my tires both times (I have just under 10,000). Each time I pick it up the virbration is either not there, or so slight you hardly notice it - but give it a day or two, and it's right back to hopping all over the place. I have tried the trick of bringing the mirrors in & out 3 times, it helped slightly, but did not elimnate it entirely. The passenger mirror is perfect, never moves at all. I could kick myself for not looking for others online that are having the same problem. But I can tell you, Chevy has had to have known about this problem for awhile now. I have also had the whistle problem too at high rates of speed, but that can be fixed by having the windshield resealed, but still on a rare occasion it will still do it.

Prior to this truck I had an '03 Tahoe, bug guard & all, and never had a single problem with it. I'm a Chevy girl, but I can tell you one thing, this is working on my last nerve! My service guy had been great at Sir Walter in Raleigh, NC - but now that I know there is a Service Bulletin on it, I'm not very happy they weren't straight up with me. I'll be paying them a little visit come Monday morning. I'll post if I receive add'l information.

Service Bulletin is #3671 for '05 & '06 found at http://www.theautochannel.com/db/servicebulletins.html
No '07 info yet there.

Found the same bulletin for my husband's '04 Silverado - his mirror vibrates, but just slightly (at least for
now that is).

well, considering people here arent having luck with the dealers "replacing the mirror" either.. I figure I will just take a stab at this myself. Does anyone have any information on the "Mirror Face Replacement in SI". Does the housing have to be disassembled, or does the mirror just pull out with a a suction cup? The metal spring method sounds promising.

Can you help me remove my broken Driver's side mirror glass? I have the replacement but can't remove the old one. From a past post of yours it sounds like the new one will pop in but I'm stumped on the removal.

I'm new to forum and hate to open up with a request for help but I've been after help on this for awhile.

Thanks,
frosty

Well... My driver side mirror had a small, annoying flutter... so while it was in the service department yesterday, I mentioned it...they took it apart, said they checked the screws as per the service bulletin...they were already tight...so there was nothing to do to fix it...

Now, this 'service' has made the mirror shake so bad above 55mph, that it is hardly usable...I wish I would have kept my mouth shut!
Sounds like I get to waste another day in the service department.

2007 Tahoe LTZ with the Auto dimming, Heated, Signal, Fold - in , motorized mirror

My wife backed out of the garage and cracked just the actual mirror on the driver's side, the houseing is still fine and has no damage.

My question is.  Can you just pull the mirror off with by prying it with a screw driver or do i have to take the whole housing appart

I want to just by the glass from the dealer which is apparently $380 dollars, either way, they want to charge me an extra $135 to install it.  So i was hoping i could save the buck 35 and and do it my self

DON'T pay for install.  Infact don't buy it at dealer.  You can find mirror glass only alot on e-bay.  To remove; press the palm of your hand against mirror and press in and up.  It is clipped in and the clips release as you push up.  I did this PLUS used a wide tipped flat screwdriver under the bottom edge.( hand presses in and screw driver helped lift it.)  You can see how to unhook/remove it after the clips release.  To reinstall; align the clips and press in w/ hand and down with wide blade. It will click in.

Here's how to replace just the glass:
Position the mirror face outward on an angle with the mirror housing.
Remove the mirror face as follows:  Position the hand in the center of the mirror face. Apply light pressure. Push upward releasing the motor retainers from the mirror back. Holding the mirror face, disconnect the electrical connectors from the back of the mirror.

Kinda what I said...Thanks to your help last time Zx.

But actual attempt revealed the need to lift with something else.

Thanks for the info.... I popped the mirror off of the 4 tabs, but..... There appears to be a center ball that was left in the mirror when taken off and appears to have broken from the motor does this mean i should get a whole mirror assembly including the mirror,  or can i just get the mirror alone and just not connect the center piece but still connect to the 4 plastic pins from the motor asembly

Stick them on and have a dealer reflash your Tahoe's DDM and PDM.

Are these the same directions for non-powerfolding mirrors?

Does any of this apply to the non-power folding mirrors that have the vibration problem?

If recycling the mirror does not fix the problem have your dealer take a look at Service Bulletin Document ID# 1852141 That reads:

      Condition
Some customers may comment that the left outside mirror glass shakes or flutters at normal driving speeds.

      Cause
      • The mirror may have been accidentally pushed in manually or obstructed while folding.

      • The mirror actuator screws may be loose, allowing the mirror to move.

      • The metal spring may not have enough tension to hold the mirror from moving.

      Correction
Follow the procedure below to correct this condition.

The power folding mirrors should be cycled three times to relearn position. Then perform a road test and check the mirror glass for stability. If stability is not fixed, proceed to step 2.
Remove the mirror glass. Refer to Mirror Face Replacement in SI.
Check the torque on the four retaining screws on the actuator.
      Tighten
Tighten the screws to 1.13-1.6 N·m (10-14 lb in).

Bend the metal spring up to increase tension engagement to the mirror housing 13 mm (1/2 in).
Install the glass assembly by pressing firmly, taking care not to allow the spring finger to unseat from its intended track in the mirror housing. Road test the vehicle. If stability is not improved, replace the mirror assembly. Refer to Power Mirror Replacement in SI.
