07 Tahoe center console sub Stealthbox®
SS Tahoe

Has anyone installed one of these yet whats your thoughts? Our Stealthbox® solution installs inside the forward section of the factory center console for complete invisibility. Intense, up-front bass is produced by a down-firing 10-inch subwoofer in a sealed enclosure. The console’s functionality and storage space is unaffected by the Stealthbox®

I was actually going to get one of these when I first got my tahoe, but you do lose a considerable amount of space in the center console. So I opted against it, I need all the storage space I can get. However I love JL and I want to put JL subs in a removalble box in the rear.

I was at a custom car audio store on Friday, trying to figure out how to add a sub woofer without having to use up most of the center console storage space with the JL Audio design. We came up with an excellent alternative, and it will enable you to still use a JL sub or any other manufacturer of your choosing.

I just got the stealthbox about a month ago....it effects no space whatsoever (replaces the oem sub). It doesn't take up any center console space, besides the space under the cup holders and tray.
It sounds great....if your looking for a tremendous amount of bass, you should probably not do this. It produces a good amount though, and im happy with the turnout. But looking back, it was expensive, and would have rather opted for a removal box in the rear.

I have 3 10s in my current Tahoe, and have also been wondering how to get some bass in the new one w/out taking up too much space. I am most likely going to remove the 3rd row (as it will never be used) and then possibly fashion a removable sub box, but I do like the JL one... the q-logic one seems well, stupid because you would still have to remove it to gain space, especially w/the power flip + fold neato seats in the LTZ I want, but of course since I don't use the 3rd row, they will most likely never be flipped, thus meaning I now have no beef w/under the back seat bass.... are there any larger photos on that web site? there all 2" by 2", If i wanted to stare at tiny photos, I would grab my cell phone... TireRack has 1000x1000 super view, now that's nice! fill the whole screen w/the images... is the install info on the site? I didn't see a PDF for it...

The QLogic sub solution goes under the driver's side middle row seat and does not affect the auto flip down passenger side seat. I have not seen this enclosure in person, and I don't see any better pictures. The store told me they would probably put the amp under the middle passenger side seat, and felt they could do so without hurting the auto-seat operation. I'm going to order it to see what it looks like, but I will be away on a combo business/vacation trip for about a month and won't be able to do so until after I return.
I took the third row seat out of my LTZ as there is no storage without it. I really don't want a sub box that I can remove back there as I think they look bad. This option looks like a factory install, and you can order it in the color of your interior.

For the JL Stealthbox I believe that forum member TMW597 has one that he never installed that I am sure he would sell.

if / when you do get the QLogic installed can you take some pics? what sub / amp will you use? let me know how the bass works out!
Wait, you also said 'middle seat'? I want captains chairs second row in my LTZ... is that going to be an issue?

He was referring to the middle (second) row since he said passenger side so I think he was talking about captain's chairs.

Yes, I have captains chairs in the middle row. I think all LTZ Tahoes do? I'll take pics, but as I said do to travel plans, it will be some time before I get into the project.
I was going to go with a JL Audio sub woofer. I think they said I would only need their entry level sub. I am not looking to get pounding sound that the entire neighborhood can hear when I drive by. I want strong defined base even at low listening levels. The current Bose system is weak in this area, IMO.
In the mean time, I would appreciate input from anyone else who tries this option.

I looked at the two options that have been linked in this thread. My concern with the JL stealthbox is the bolded area below. My center console has AC vents--don't all the tahoes? Not that I have that many people sitting back there, but I would think they would like AC and heat if they do.
THE HARD DATA:
Contains one 10W1v2-4 in a sealed enclosure. 300 Watt power handling. Wired for 4 ohm mono. Stealthbox® installs inside forward-most portion of front center console and replaces the OEM "subwoofer” system, if vehicle is so equipped. Will not fit Trucks with AC vents on the back of the center console or vehicles with deep storage area in front of cup holders. Will not fit Full-Size "Classic” Trucks, Chevrolet SSR, Cadillac Escalade, Cadillac Escalade ESV, Cadillac Escalade EXT, Hummer H2, Hummer H2 SUT.
For the qlogic option, the pics don't seem to show the 07 tahoe (based on the way the seats are folding on the pic). I don't know if there is really enough room under the automatic flipping seats for something this size. I could be wrong...

The JL will not work if you have vents in the back of the center console. The installer confirmed this with me. The QLogic is made for the '07 and '08 as they are vitually the same. Supposedly, and they did look at my rear seats, the box should fit with no problem.

This is what I have....12" Kicker....Pioneer 600x1W amp that fits perfectly under the seat.

Could you provide a manufacturer link? Is that the sub box located between the middle row seats? Does it sound better than the Bose sub that comes with the system?

Yes the sub is between the 2nd row captains chairs. You can step on it....very durable if you have people that have to go to the 3rd row. I would sasy it sounds a TON better then the Bose sub. Just keep in mind that the Kicker sub is power hungry so you'll want to push at least 400x1 watts....then the space under the seat is limited. The amp I got was the best for both price and size that I could find. Here is the shop i bought it from....100% positive feedback.

Okay, I feel bad for this.
A few people inquired about the Stealthbox I've had for over a year now just sitting in the garage. After doing all of the research on pricing the box, shipping the box, and researching doing the actual install, I just decided to finally keep the box and go ahead and do the install myself this weekend. I'm going with a JL Audio 250/2 v2 bridged off of the factory Bose amp. I'll see if my guy will take pictures for me while he's doing the install.

The Stealthbox is in! Let me just say, the sound is night and day compared to the factory Bose sub that was originally installed! The Stealthbox bumps, and it sounds great with the existing Bose system. I've had to turn the amp waaaaay down because it bumps so hard. I've been asked if it's worth the price. That's a subjective question. I paid $350 for the Stealthbox about 13 months ago. I see them online still for almost $600. I'm glad I got it for almost half the price. If you want bumpin' bass and don't want to take up space or for anyone to see your box, then it's worth it. I made sure to go with the JL Audio 250x1 V.2 amp.

Dam* Fred, that thing was collecting dust for over a year and you finally put it in! HAHA
Where are the pictures, lets see how it actually fits in the console and what kind of space it takes up. Where did you located the amp, pictures of that too. You know you cant come post this kind of info without the pictures.

You guys kill me with the pictures request. Go outside and take a picture of your center console and that's how it looks on mine. It's STEALTH!!!! You can't tell it's there. I didn't take pictures during the actual install, but I have a PDF of another person doing the install. I just don't know how to get PDF's in the thread. Anyone care to show me how? I thought it was just like inserting a photo. The amp ended up going underneath the rear left seat. (I didn't want to do that by the way, but my installer took it upon himself to cut the hole. Had I been around I would have thought of another place to stash it.)
Like I said though it bumps!!!!
