07 Tahoe White Boards Lastly, the mirrors are also solid white. They dont seem to be painted, are they? I want them also? Thanks, Landon.

Read the write up. It talks about custom paint on mirrors and boards.

I think the one on eBay had the bottom half body color.

73shark, yes the bottom half of the mirrors are painted or parted in all white, no black. I have the white top half in white from the factory, i need the bottom part.
What write up are you telling me to read on custom paint on mirrors and boards. I am confused on what write up you are talking about? thanks guys.

Head over to you local friendly body shop and they'll hook you up!
You can tell those are factory boards, just painted.
As it states............looks like entire mirror was painted as the wedge at the glass and swivel knuckle is also white

You think the boards were painted? that surprises me. I wouldnt think they could be painted and the paint hold up or stay on?? Opinions?
Lastly, on the boards in the picture do you think the top part that is black was just left unpainted, or is it some kind of black mat or something that was put over an all white board?

I think you'll have to paint the bottom half. It appears to be the same type of mat'l as the running boards and therefore will require a special primer.
The writeup I was referring to was the bottom of the eBay listing. He explained about what the truck had on it.
As far as his boards go, I think he just painted the black boards and masked off the part that's still black.

Thanks for the input. I will ask my local body shop and see what they thing.
What are others opinions of the matching color of the boards and mirrors? LIke, dislike, ok, etc? My tahoe is white with factory 20's. Thanks, Landon.

My LTZ is black so every thing is body color whether painted or not. I like monochromatic whether black or otherwise. If you do your boards, I would recommend that you leave the step part black because 1) it'll show less dirt and 2) the paint will wear thru eventually.
Did you know you can get body color grills from Chevy? Although seems that they would be easy to paint. Just a thought.

73Shark,
I did notice you could get body color grilles. However I have put on a stainless billet grille and am happy with it. It was a cheap one off ebay. It suits the pocket book, however if money wasnt an issue I would buy one of better quality.

I did likewise except got a polished aluminum. It must be clear coated as haven't had to polish it. Really like the look but it's becoming less and less unique. That's OK as I think it improves the look.

I went by the Chevy body shop today and they tried to talk me out of painting those pieces.
They said even with a flex agent and adhesion promoter that they have had bad luck with paint adhering to this type of textured surface

So it is a no go on painting them? Did they quote you a price if you went against their advice?

I didn't have time to talk to an estimator, I was talking to one of the painters in the shop.
HE said it might last a year, a month or a week.
He said once the painted area gets a nick, or chip it seems to accelerate the paint chipping off, especially if water gets behind
the paint and or freezes.
So at this point I haven't decided what to do, as I really like the look.
I looked a Toyota Sequoia and the mudguards and boards were body colored but were a smooth surface to begin
with.
Same with the boards on my 05 Denali, smooth. This is what seems to be the sticking point literally,no pun intended!
