05 Malibu Maxx brake lights

I have a problem with the brake lights of my 05 Maxx.  A month or so ago, the brake lights were out so I replaced them.  In the process of doing so, I noticed that the LED bulbs themselves weren't bad, but were having a hard time staying properly seated in the sockets.  I replaced them anyway because the new (non LED) bulbs seemed to seat properly. 

Now I have the same problem, the replaced bulbs do not seat properly in the sockets.  I had my wife press the brake pedal and I moved the bulb within the socket and it turned on as it should. 

The replacement bulbs were the recommended replacement that I bought at Autozone. 

Do I need new sockets?  Has this been recalled?  Should I rig it so that the bulb stays seated properly?
