I'm looking at trading in my Silverado and picking up an '01 SS, however I haven't heard anything (good, bad, or otherwise) regarding these cars as they get older. Although I am a Chevy guy, I don't kid myself into thinking the first or second generations of new cars have the most foolproof engines and transmissions on the market. Has anybody heard anything substantial regarding these vehicles as they approach the 60k - 70k mile mark?

I have a 2000 Grand Prix GT and I can say that if it has the same engine in it, which I believe that it does, the 3800 normally aspirated or even the supercharged version it is a rock solid platform. GM has used this is a LOT of cars from the buick regal to the pontiac grand prix to chevy's monte carlo. I know it has also ended up in some cadillac models. I am a pretty serious Chevy fan and I would buy the car it the price was right. Just my 2 cents.
